Recycle at free public drop-off bins | Recycle at our yard
We pay cash for some items. The following items are paid based on global commodity pricing, which fluctuates daily and is affected by region.
Metal Buy-Back
Sell your scrap metal for some extra cash in your pocket. You read that right. We will purchase scrap metals and pay the current local commodities rate. Bring it in, we weigh it, we pay you cash.
Appliances
We accept stoves, refrigerators, washers and dryers. Refrigerants (freon) must be removed. We offer a removal service for $30. If the unit has been evacuated, we require an accompanying EPA statement from the certified freon remover.
Batteries
Bring in your used lead-acid batteries because we buy those too. We pay based on weight and pay local, current rates.
Vehicles
Tired of looking at that old car in your backyard, bring it on in and we will pay you cash for it. All fluids must be drained (differential oil, transmission fluid, coolant and engine oil). You will be required to sign a title-release letter.
Glass
Glass can be recycled for a fee of $7 for up to 50 lbs. and then .10 thereafter. You must bring the glass to our yard to recycle it. There is no glass recycling at the drop-off bins.
Accepted Recycling
There are several public drop-off bins located around southwest Montana that accept the following items. The bins are free.
Plastic
Due to global trends, only plastic bottles #1 & #2 are being accepted. There is currently no market for plastic #3-#7 or non-bottle shaped #1 and #2 plastic.
Steel & Aluminum
The paper wrap on steel cans is ok to leave on. Steel and aluminum must be empty and clean.
Cardboard
Recycle paperboard (cereal boxes, six-pack holders are examples), corrugated cardboard (shipping boxes) and plain brown wrapping paper together in the cardboard bin.
Paper
When possible, remove staples. Remove plastic wrap from magazines. Accepted items: office paper, newspaper, magazines, phone books, mail papers, including the heavier cardstock direct mail pieces and neon paper.

They must be in the original box or a Bayern eco-pack. A $3 deposit will get you an Eco-pack here or at participating locations. Fill the eco-pack with 24 bottles in four carriers.
Who knows, you might just drink from that bottle again.

What Kind of Recycler Are You?
Helpful
You thoroughly empty or rinse liquid from items you intend to recycle.
Educator
You share the benefits of recycling with others. You encourage responsible recycling.
Frugal
Many items can be recycled for cash. Scrap metals, appliances and more can put cash in your hand instantly. Read below for more information.
Lazy
My recycled items contain food or chemicals.
Contaminated items cannot be recycled and end up affecting other items. In most cases, these items end up in the garbage.
Don’t be a lazy recycler. Make sure your items are empty and clean.
Wishful
“I am pretty sure this can be recycled.”
“I am just going to recycle it any ways.”
Many items just can’t be recycled due to global or commodity limitations.
Only recycle what is accepted in your area or your recycled item will take a long road trip to a sorting facility where it will get disposed of as trash. Save it the road trip by reusing it or throwing it away.
